Marcel Salomon ‘singing klezmer’

Marcel Salomon has been the most well-known Dutch klezmer clarinettist for years. And also in Germany, the klezmer-loving crowd is getting to know more and more about him. But, not everybody knows that he is also a fantastic singer and show man. Virtuoso, entertaining and amusing. In the Netherlands he has been touring for many years with his own Salomon Klezmorin (together with accordionist Theo van Tol) and his band Klezmer in Swing.

Nowadays, Marcel usually plays in a small combination: as a duo, with clarinet and guitar, and lots of vocals. With this duo, he has two programs:

  • the singing klezmer
  • happy holidays

Both programs are full of Jewish swing, synagogue music, Russian and Ukrainian pieces, Chassidic Niguns and songs from the Jewish theatre. ‘Happy holidays’ is a program that tells the story of the holidays of the Jewish calendar.

The music by Marcel Salomon is suitable for small stages and intimate concerts.
