A lovely and relaxed-swinging trio that sometimes reminds of Django Reinhardt, sometimes reminds of Klezmer or Balkan-music, but most of all, has a unique identity of its own. Their music has a sense of melancholy that you seldom hear. First class!
The new Hot Trio plays gypsy jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt and the Rosenberg Trio. The trio plays all classics of this style with passion and virtuosity. But the trio also has a wide repertoire of original compositions by guitarist Harold Berghuis, with a more contemporary sound than you’ll usually hear in this style. The German music magazine Hot Club News wrote about these pieces ‘Perhaps some of these composition will one day be the gypsy-jazz classics of tomorrow’.
The trio wants to be a bridge between Paris of the thirties and Amsterdam today. So, it may happen that between the old swing sounds, you’ll hear sudden funky rhythms or hip fusion chords. And if they feel like it, the guys can even sing. But most of all, the New Hot Trio is a relaxed swinging, acoustic trio for Hot Club de France music.
The music of the New Hot Trio is suitable for small stages and festivals, music bars, receptions and dinners.
