News – March 2007

On March 15th and 16th I had the chance to play along with these Norwegian klezmorim on their first tour in the Netherlands. Theatre Kadens in Haarlem and the Pleintheater in Amsterdam were packed, everybody was curious to get to know this new klezmersensation. These guys can play!! Tight rhythms and wild improvisations, but also the most lovely and carefully played Yiddish songs, sang by pianist Tor-Petter Aanes. Now we know why this group plays at the Jewish Festivals of Chicago and New York. Urban Tunélls is Europe's coolest klezmerband.
